No wonder the LD want higher taxes and support Labour! They want higher taxes to support their lifestyle as the recent expenses claims have illustrated! Why should low income folk pay taxes so higher income MPs can buy things they (The Taxpayer) cannot afford? Something a Bit wrong there! Why the need to put simple things like "Botticelli" wine glasses and Egg Holders on expenses!
Does Burt not think the hard pressed Tax Payer might think this is a claim too far! It is not as though just one set of Six Wine Glasses were acquired by Burt but 5 different sets of glasses on the receipt dated 12 August 2005. The same receipt includes other such things as Salad Bowls and Steamers! Hardly essentials! Indeed given one of the first claims was for food at £20 per day (Claim period 01/12/2005 - 28/02/2006), it makes one wonder why she would ever use the Wine Glasses, Egg Holders, Steamer or Salad Bowl as you would think she eats out for all her meals on £20 a day at the subsidised House of Commons facilities?
Very strange - One could be mistaken for a personal enrichment scheme or someone claiming for all they could get! The food claims go on and on! Some claims such as Food look to me dubious at best £300 claims for one months food! The period of 01/11/2007 to 30/11/2007 is one such claim as is 01/01/2008 to 31/01/2008. Indeed another £300 claim from the 01/03/2008 to the 31/03/2008 shows that Mrs Burt eats well! The information for these expenses can be seen to the below House of Commons link:

As a passing note - An Individual on Unemployment Benefit gets about £260 a month to eat, pay gas, electricity and water and any Glasses or Egg Holders they require! Burt's claim stinks and i think the electorate should be aware of these expenses as it is just cashing in at the poor taxpayers expense.
